Nowadays, we don't just hold meetings in real life at the office, but increasingly via Zoom, Teams, and other conferencing tools that allow us to (video) call. Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is now taking it a step further with Facebook Horizon Workrooms. This online collaboration platform brings colleagues together in a unique way, namely via virtual reality. Want to know more about this? Then do read on!

Horizon Workrooms is not just any online collaboration platform. It sets itself apart from the rest thanks to the integration of VR, or virtual reality. Here, you have the feeling that you are physically and mentally present in the meeting room, while in reality, you're just at home on the sofa or behind the desk. Horizon Workrooms proves that virtual reality is not only suitable for making games more intense and realistic, but it can also be used during online meetings. Virtually meet with team members and colleagues to brainstorm, share ideas, hold meetings, give presentations and work on joint tasks from a distance. To get the most out of Workrooms, you need a compatible VR headset. You can use the platform without a virtual reality headset, although that is what makes Horizon Workrooms so unique and special.

To get started with Horizon Workrooms, you can log in here with your Meta account. This is the same as the account you use for Facebook and/or Instagram. If you don't have a Meta account, you will need to create one with your e-mailadres. After you have registered with Workrooms with your Meta account, you will receive a 4-cijferige code via email that you need to enter in Workrooms. You can then create a new workspace and secure it with a password. Accept the terms. You can now send an invitation to colleagues, schedule a meeting, chat, share files with each other, participate in a video conference and adapt the virtual environment to your wishes.

Not every VR headset can be used in Horizon Workrooms. The collaboration platform is only compatible with Meta Quest headsets, such as the Meta Quest 2 and the Meta Quest Pro. To use virtual reality, you need to install the Horizon Workrooms app on your compatible VR headset. You can download this application from the app library on the headset. Open the app and follow the in-VR instructions to complete the installation. Most likely, the new, yet to be released Meta Quest 3 will also be compatible with Horizon Workrooms.
