The first time I had the chance to put on the HTC Vive Focus Vision was during a private preview at the HTC Vive exhibition in Amsterdam. The model bears a striking resemblance to the Focus 3, its predecessor, but many improvements and new features have been added.
The image quality is very good, especially when you allow the IPD to be set automatically thanks to the eye-tracking.
The headset feels noticeably light and comfortable. During my test sessions at Unbound, I wore it several times for an hour or longer, without any significant pressure points. The fit is also suitable for different users, including those with glasses.
Tracking and operation are solid. Everything responds as you hope - quickly, accurately, and without surprises. The eye-tracking setup went fairly smoothly, and clear instructions are provided on how to use the device correctly.
What's nice about an HTC Vive headset like this one, is that there are many accessories available. For example, you can extend the battery life simply by swapping the battery with a freshly charged one, allowing you to continue playing immediately when you're working in wireless mode. The Streaming Kit is highly recommended. It offers the headset a lot of options for connecting to, for example, a gaming laptop or desktop.
In my opinion, the Vive Focus Vision is currently the best standalone headset that HTC has released to date.
