The VIVE Ultimate Tracker 3+1 Kit is the complete solution for anyone wanting to integrate full body tracking into their VR experience. The kit includes three units of the advanced VIVE Ultimate Tracker and one VIVE Wireless Dongle. Thanks to inside-out tracking with two wide-angle cameras and intelligent computer vision, the trackers work completely independently. PCVR tracking without Lighthouse tracking

The HTC VIVE Ultimate Tracker is HTC’s response to standalone tracking without base stations – and that's something I was personally very much looking forward to. In our testing environment, we linked the trackers to a VIVE XR Elite and also tested for compatibility with SteamVR via the dongle. The result? Promising, with room for improvement.
The major plus of this tracker is that it utilises inside-out tracking via two onboard cameras. You no longer need any external sensors, which greatly simplifies the setup. The tracker is surprisingly compact, lightweight, and charges quickly via USB-C. You can link it directly to the VIVE XR Elite or the Focus 3 – and with the special dongle soon to a PC as well.
In practice, the tracking worked quite accurately, although I noticed that it is slightly less stable than traditional Lighthouse solutions with fast, irregular movements (for example, during dance movements or martial arts). But for applications such as fitness, motion capture or full-body avatars in VRChat, it works just fine. Especially for mobile setups or trainings where simplicity is paramount, this is a breath of fresh air.
Another strong point is the versatility of the attachment: thanks to the standard 1/4" thread, you can easily mount the tracker on belts, holders or accessories. We used it with the EOZ straps, which proved to be a solid combination.
Do note: compatibility with third-party software and platforms is still in its infancy. Full integration with SteamVR is only possible once the dongle is officially available. For business customers, we therefore recommend checking in advance whether the intended use is currently feasible.
All in all, the VIVE Ultimate Tracker is a great step towards wireless flexibility. Not perfect, but certainly one of the most accessible options for inside-out tracking at the moment.
