Installation of VR equipment

As the installation of VR equipment can be a rather technical process, we are happy to assist you. If you choose our installation service, our VR specialists will do the following for you:

How does this work?

  • Delivery and unpacking of the hardware;
  • Installation of required software, such as Steam and SteamVR (please note: we do not install third-party software);
  • Checking all VR hardware;
  • Mounting of the base stations at the correct angles;
  • Testing and optimising the playing field;
  • Registration of commercial HTC Vive warranty (if applicable).

Rates

For small VR installations (< 3 set-ups), we usually send 1 VR specialist to perform the installation. For set-ups with more than 3 VR headsets, or complicated set-ups*, we send 2 VR specialists. The rate for 1 VR specialist is €95 per hour. For 1 set-up, we expect to be busy for approximately 1.5-2 hours, but this can vary greatly depending on the location and environment.

The transport costs we charge are €40 per hour travelled.

*This could, for example, be a set-up in a special room or with high-end hardware, such as a backpack computer. If you are unsure about the set-up or how many VR specialists we need to send, please contact us.

Prerequisites

For a smooth completion, it is important to prepare the VR space for the installation. There are several points that the space must meet to be compatible with virtual reality:

  • Ensure a working internet connection (wired is recommended*);
  • Ensure sufficient power points on site. Keep in mind that (among other things) the following devices need power: computer, television screen, VR headset, and base stations;
  • Take into account the mounting of the base stations. We bring a couple of tripod stands as standard to test the base stations, but the base stations themselves need to be mounted eventually;
  • Television screens should be hung/placed by/under your own management;
  • Creating Steam accounts should be done under your own management. See the Steam instruction page for more information. It is advisable to do this before the installation, so it does not have to be done during the installation;
  • During the installation, someone should be present for any questions or comments.

 

*If the location does not have a wired internet connection, please let us know in time! Then we will make sure the computers are compatible with WiFi.
