Business application? Seek advice on the right configuration
The RML63 series is a professional robotic arm for technical, educational, research, and light industrial applications. The right version depends on the desired task, the required sensors, the end-effector, the power supply, the mounting, and integration with existing systems. For business projects, we advise discussing the application briefly in advance, so that the robotic arm directly meets the practical and technical requirements of the project.

Professional robotic arm for light and accurate automation

The RML63 robotic arm is a professional 6-axis application-grade robotic arm for precise and flexible automation within technical, educational, research, and light industrial applications. Thanks to its compact design and integrated controller, the RML63 can be implemented relatively easily without a traditional external robot control cabinet. This makes the robotic arm suitable for environments where space-saving, quick deployability, and neat integration are important.

With a working range of about 900 mm and a carrying capacity of up to 3 kg, the RML63 is suitable for light, precise tasks such as pick-and-place, assembly, inspection, test setups, product demonstrations, and fine mechanical operations. The repeat accuracy of ±0.05 mm contributes to consistent movements in repetitive processes. Do keep in mind that the weight of a gripper, robot hand, suction cup, cabling, and the object itself counts towards the total load of the robotic arm.

Multiple versions for different applications

The RML63 series is available in multiple versions. Depending on the chosen variant, the robotic arm has an integrated 6-axis Force/Torque Sensor and/or a Motion Camera. This allows the RML63 to be used for standard automation, as well as for more advanced applications where force measurement, visual positioning, or interaction with objects is important.

Model Variant Force/Torque Sensor Motion Camera
RML63-B Standard No No
RML63-6F Force/Torque Yes, integrated No
RML63-B-V Vision No Yes
RML63-6F-V Force/Torque + Vision Yes, integrated Yes
Which RML63 version do you need?
  • RML63-B: standard version for fixed and repetitive movements, such as simple pick-and-place tasks, test setups, demonstrations or light automation.
  • RML63-6F: version with integrated 6-axis Force/Torque Sensor in the robotic arm. Suitable when the arm needs to be able to measure force, pressure or resistance, for example in controlled pressing, positioning, assembly or other contact-sensitive applications.
  • RML63-B-V: version with Motion Camera for applications where visual positioning, localization or object recognition is desired, for example when objects are not always exactly in the same position.
  • RML63-6F-V: most complete version with integrated Force/Torque Sensor and Motion Camera. Suitable for applications where the robotic arm must visually position objects and additionally be able to exert controlled force during contact or assembly.

Note: the Force/Torque Sensor is located in the robotic arm itself in the 6F versions. A gripper, robot hand, suction cup or other end-effector is chosen separately and may or may not contain its own sensors or grip force measurement, depending on the type.

Suitable for which applications?

Application Recommended version Explanation
Fixed pick-and-place tasks RML63-B Suitable when objects are always in the same position and the movements are predictable.
Test setups and demonstrations RML63-B or RML63-B-V Depends on whether visual recognition or positioning is needed.
Contact-sensitive assembly RML63-6F For applications where force, pressure or resistance needs to be measured during contact with an object.
Object recognition or variable positions RML63-B-V For situations where objects need to be visually recognized, located or tracked.
Adaptive tasks with vision and force measurement RML63-6F-V For more complex applications with both visual positioning and controlled force exertion.

Operation, software and integration

The robotic arm supports various communication and integration options, including Ethernet, WiFi, USB and serial interfaces. For commissioning, operation and configuration, the web-based teach pendant software from RealMan can be used. Via this browser environment, users can operate the robotic arm and controller, move the robotic arm manually, learn positions, create and execute robot programs and read system information.

The teach pendant can be used on Windows, Android, Apple and Linux devices among others. Keep in mind that the connection to the robotic arm goes via a wired network connection according to the documentation. For further integration, APIs and SDKs are available, so that the RML63 can be linked to existing software, operating systems and automation environments.

What might you need in addition?

The RML63 is a professional robotic arm that often becomes part of a broader technical solution. Depending on the application, additional parts or engineering steps may be needed to make the robotic arm safely and practically deployable.

  • Suitable external 24V power supply according to the manufacturer's specifications
  • Gripper, robot hand, suction cup or other end-effector
  • Mounting plate, work cell attachment or other mechanical attachment
  • Cabling and possible links with existing systems
  • Safety provisions, depending on the application and working environment
  • Software integration, API link, SDK development or process setup

Practical considerations

Keep in mind that a power supply is not included as standard. For use, a suitable external 24V power supply is needed that meets the technical requirements of the manufacturer. Also, check in advance whether the desired application fits within the working range, the payload, the movement speed, the mounting position and the safety requirements of the environment in which the robotic arm is deployed.

In business applications, it's important to not only look at the robotic arm itself, but also at the complete solution around it. Consider the choice of end-effector, how objects are supplied, the desired accuracy, the available space, the software environment and the extent to which human interaction with the robotic arm takes place.
