XGRIDS Portalcam bundle
XGRIDS PortalCam: Photorealistic 3D scanning with LiDAR
With the XGRIDS PortalCam, you can quickly digitise spaces, buildings and entire locations in 3D. The compact scanner combines LiDAR with four 12 MP cameras and captures both the geometry and visual characteristics of an environment while walking. The scan data is then processed into a photorealistic 3D Gaussian Splatting environment where you can freely look around and navigate.
The PortalCam is suitable for indoor and outdoor use and can be used for, among other things, real estate, architecture, construction, digital twins, heritage, inspections, film production, virtual production and AR and VR content.
Mobile scanning with LiDAR and four cameras
Unlike traditional static laser scanners, you don't have to set up the PortalCam at separate scan positions. You move through the environment while the LiDAR and cameras continuously collect data. This way, even larger spaces and locations can be captured relatively quickly.
- LiDAR: up to 856,000 points per second
- Scan range: 0.1 to 30 metres at 10% reflectivity
- Cameras: 2 fisheye and 2 front cameras
- Resolution: 4000 × 3000 pixels per camera (12 MP)
- Camera sensor: 1/2" CMOS
- Shutter: rolling shutter
- Weight: approximately 870 grams without tripod
- Storage: 512 GB internal
Photorealistic models with 3D Gaussian Splatting
The captured LiDAR and camera data is processed into photorealistic 3D models based on 3D Gaussian Splatting in XGRIDS LCC Studio. This allows real locations to be digitally reconstructed in a lifelike manner and used for, among other things, virtual tours, digital twins, VR content, simulations and virtual production.
Process scans locally
PortalCam scans can be processed locally with LCC Studio. As a result, project data does not necessarily have to be uploaded to an external cloud environment. This is particularly interesting for confidential locations, industrial environments and other projects where control over the data is important.
Models can be used within the XGRIDS platform and, among other things, exported to PLY for further processing in compatible external software.
Compare LCC Studio licenses
A Premium license is not necessary for regular PortalCam projects. More extensive LCC Studio licenses offer additional possibilities, such as Map Fusion, Aerial-Ground Map Fusion and HD Enhancement, which are especially interesting for larger or more complex projects.
At the bottom of this page, you can compare the different LCC Studio licenses side by side and see exactly which features are included and not included per license.
Combine ground scans with drone recordings
For larger projects, PortalCam scans can be combined with aerial footage. The PortalCam can capture the interior and street level, while a drone records the roof, higher facades and surrounding terrain. These datasets can then be combined into one comprehensive 3D model.
Training, rental and professional 3D scan service
Unbound XR not only delivers the XGRIDS PortalCam, but also offers product training, rental and professional 3D scan services. During training, we cover the correct scanning method, settings, and setting up an efficient workflow.
Do you need support with a project? Unbound XR can perform scanning work on site and combine PortalCam scans with professional drone recordings for larger projects.

Local processing or cloud processing
For locally processing larger LCC projects, a suitable NVIDIA video card is recommended, in combination with sufficient RAM and storage capacity. If local computing power is insufficient, projects can also be processed via the XGRIDS cloud.
